VAST DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR MILFORD HAVEN

Milford Haven is being developed to permit its regular use by 250,000 ton tankers and possibly even larger vessels on a more occasional basis, at a total cost of some 12 million pounds to be shared between the Milford Haven Conservancy Board and three international oil companies. Although Milford Haven is already Britains principal port for oil tankers up to 175,000 tons, Esso Petroleum and Texaco Companies have on order and under construction a substantial number of vessels in the 220,000 to 255,000 deadweight tons category, and this vital dredging scheme will give Britain a port capable of handling them fully laden.
