TRAFFIC ACCIDENT REPORTING IN KENTUCKY
THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND PROCESSING PROCEDURES USED IN ACCIDENT SURVEILLANCE ARE REVIEWED. CONSIDERATION IS GIVEN TO THE TECHNIQUES USED BY VARIOUS STATE GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES IN THE ANALYSIS OF ACCIDENT REPORTS AND STATISTICS. THE NEED FOR THE ENACTION OF UNIFORM ACCIDENT REPORTING LEGISLATION IS NOTED. A STANDARD FORM IS PRESCRIBED FOR USE BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN COMPLYING WITH THE REPORTING REQUIREMENT. RECOMMENDATION IS MADE FOR THE CREATION OF AN ACCIDENT RECORDS UNIT TO RECEIVE, PROCESS, AND STATISTICALLY ANALYZE THE REPORTS.
