SYSTEMS APPROACH TO OCEANOGRAPHIC SHIPS
Capabilities, crew requirements, design and equipment of typical modern oceanographic surveying and research ships are given. The gains to be realized in cost and effectiveness from taking the systems approach to design of oceanographic ships are explained. Detailed systems engineering considerations in such an approach are discussed.
