EXTENSION OF PROJECT CARE-SOM (COORDINATED ACCIDENT RESCUE ENDEAVOR, STATE OF MISSISSIPPI)
THE OBJECTIVE WAS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A WORKABLE, COORDINATED STATEWIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SYSTEM WHICH WOULD INCORPORATE BOTH HELICOPTER AND EXISTING GROUND AMBULANCE SERVICES. THE STUDY WAS CONCERNED WITH USE OF HELICOPTER AMBULANCES FOR POLICE TRAFFIC SERVICES, THE COSTS OF ESTABLISHING AND OPERATING A STATEWIDE MEDICAL EMERGENCY SYSTEM, AND THE APPROPRIATE STATE AGENCY FOR OPERATING SUCH A SYSTEM, ITS IMPACTS UPON GROUND AMBULANCE FIRMS WERE EXAMINED, DEVELOPED, AND EVALUATED. /AUTHOR/
