Highway Curve Collision Avoidance Warning System Based on VII

By reasonably integrating modern communications, automatic control, sensors and other technology, Vehicle Infrastructure Integration system (VII) can distribute and balance traffic information between vehicles and infrastructure so as to enhance traffic safety and efficiency. The function of Highway Curve Collision Avoidance Warning System and some traditional traffic safety methods are analyzed. On this basis, physical and logical system framework is designed. In this system, a vehicle exchanges location information and velocity vectors with nearby vehicles through wireless communication, as well as calculating relative position and speed. Furthermore, Collision Risk Indicator (CRI) is introduced to predict vehicular collisions where the system can warn a driver according to the value of CRI. The simulation experiment results confirm the validity of the collision avoidance algorithm.
