MOTOR ACCIDENTS IN NEW ZEALAND - STATISTICAL STATEMENT 1970
THE STATISTICS IN THIS BOOKLET ILLUSTRATE THE PATTERN OF ROAD ACCIDENTS INVOLVING BOTH DEATH OR INJURY THAT OCCURRED DURING 1970, TOGETHER WITH SOME HISTORICAL TABLES SHOWING THE TREND IN ROAD ACCIDENTS OVER THE PAST DECADE. THE INTRODUCTION OF A NEW FORM OF ACCIDENT REPOT IN 1970 HAS ENABLED A NEW METHOD OF CLASSIFYING ACCIDENTS ACCORDING TO: (1) THE MANNER THE VEHICLES INVOLVED WERE MOVING IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT AND (2) HOW THE OBJECTS STRUCK OTHER VEHICLES OR PERSONS.
