FATALITY RATES FOR SURFACE FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION, 1963-1968
The report identifies the need for an index of safety for freight transportation, suggests that the appropriate index might be fatalities per billion ton-miles, and then calculates these statistics for the surface modes of transportation. A technical appendix discusses data limitations. /NTSB/
