STREET LIGHTING LUMINAIRE DIRT DEPRECIATION
THE RESULTS OF A STUDY OF STREET LIGHTING LUMINAIRE DIRT DEPRECIATION ARE DESCRIBED, IN AN EFFORT TO DEVELOP A MEANS FOR PREDICTING DEPRECIATION RATES TO BE EXPECTED IN SERVICE. MUCH OF THE STUDY CONSISTED OF TESTS CONDUCTED IN NORMAL OUTDOOR AMBIENTS SO THAT THE RESULTS WOULD BE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE ENVIRONMENTS WHERE LUMINAIRES NORMALLY OPERATE. IN ADDITION, A LARGE AMOUNT OF LABORATORY TESTING WAS INVOLVED, INCLUDING STUDIES OF LUMINAIRE AIR BREATHING CHARACTERISTICS AND AIR DIFFUSION RATES DUE TO WIND PRESSURE. A GENERAL DIRT DEPRECIATION FORMULA WAS DEVELOPED WHICH CAN BE USED TO CALCULATE LUMINAIRE DIRT MAINTAINANCE CURVES FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF LUMINAIRES OPERATING IN DIFFERENT AMBIENTS. /AUTHOR/
