INFLATABLE PASSIVE AIR RESTRAINT SYSTEM CRASH SENSORS
THE TECHNOLOGY OF SENSORS FOR AIR RESTRAINT SYSTEMS IS DISCUSSED. THE TWO MAJOR PROBLEMS IN DEVELOPMENT OF PASSIVE INFLATABLE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ARE HIGH SYSTEM NOISE AND PRESSURE AND HIGH PROBABILITIES OF INADVERTANT OPERATION. SENSORS CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE SOLUTION OF THESE PROBLEMS. SYSTEMS ANALYSIS OF SENSORS IS DISCUSSED, INCLUDING OCCUPANT KINEMATICS AND MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF THE OVERALL SYSTEM. /HSL/
