SPACE TECHNOLOGY FOR AUTO-HIGHWAY SAFETY

A RESEARCH TEAM IS ENGAGED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ATTENUATION SYSTEMS FOR HIGHWAY GORES. THE ACHIEVEMENTS TO DATE AND FUTURE AIMS ARE REPORTED. A METHOD FOR INITIALLY SCREENING AVAILABLE ENERGY-ABSORBING DEVICES IS PRESENTED. THE EVALUATION OF THE REMAINING DEVICES BY TESTING AND ANALYSIS IS DISCUSSED.
