A STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF ONTARIO TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS USING INDUCED EXPOSURE DATA
ATTEMPT IS MADE TO GENERATE A PSEUDO-CONTROL GROUP FROM RAW ACCIDENT DATA FOR THE PURPOSES OF COMPARISON WITH AN ACCIDENT POPULATION. RESPONSIBILITY FOR EACH ACCIDENT IS DETERMINED USING POLICE DATA. THE RESULTANT "RESPONSIBLE" AND "NONRESPONSIBLE" POPULATIONS BECOME THE "ACCIDENT" AND "CONTROL" POPULATIONS RESPECTIVELY. RELATIVE RISK RATES ARE CALCULATED AND COMPARED WITH THORPE'S RESULTS. A MULTIPLE REGRESSION ANALYSIS EXPLORES THE VARIATION BETWEEN THE SITE-MATCHED POPULATIONS TO DETERMINE WHICH, IF ANY, OF THE DRIVER-VEHICLE VARIABLES ARE RELATED TO RESPONSIBILITY RELATIONSHIPS AMONG ALL VARIABLES IN THE SYSTEM ARE DETERMINED USING FACTOR ANALYSIS. /HSL/
