UDAB ENGINE. SOME INSTALLATION PLANS

This account of the way UDAB designers are considering actual installations of the 1000 bhp/cyl machine describes how various applications have been studied and machinery arrangements for different types of ships drawn up. The main and auxiliary power transmissions have also been studied and the design problems investigated. Examples deal with single-screw OBO ships and twin-screw fast container ships and supertankers. Specific transportation costs are considered for various engine-room arrangements.
