Urban freight consultations in the Paris region
This article examines the effect consultations with stakeholders and constituents has on freight policy for the Paris region (Ile de France). Freight and logistics accounts for a considerable portion of the region's economy, but also considerable negative environment effects, such as noise pollution and CO2 emissions. To promote more sustainable practices, researchers consulted with different agencies to foster partnerships. It was found that consultations with smaller, local agencies was not as effective alone as they were as a part of larger, regional networks. It was also clear that these negotiations will only be effective when translated into policy to promote a sustainable and competitive enviroment for logistics companies.
