AN EXPERIMENTAL LOW-COST LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR IMPORTANT HIGHWAYS IN RURAL AREAS
A TRIAL INSTALLATION IS DISCUSSED OF A LOW-COST SYSTEM OF LIGHTING FOR IMPORTANT RURAL HIGHWAYS AND ROADS THAT ARE AT PRESENT USUALLY UNLIGHTED. MOST DRIVERS FIND THE LIGHTING HELPFUL. MOREOVER, ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN REDUCED. ACCORDINGLY, THE TRIAL INSTALLATION HAS BEEN EXTENDED FROM ONE-HALF TO ONE AND ONE-HALF MILES IN LENGTH TO OBTAIN MORE DATA.
