DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF A REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM, DEVELOPED BY THE LONDON ELECTRICITY BOARD, WHICH USES DIGITAL TECHNIQUES AND UTILIZES SOLID STATE DEVICES IN BOTH TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING EQUIPMENT. A PILOT SCHEME WAS INSTALLED IN LAMBETH, IN WHICH 88 PUBLIC LIGHTING COLUMNS WERE SELECTED FOR REMOTE CONTROL. /RRL/
