AN ANALYSIS OF PROPOSED TOLL SYSTEMS FOR THE INTEROCEANIC CANAL
A brief historical background of the present Panama Canal tolls system is presented. Reports concerning possible tolls systems for the Panama Canal are reviewed and the most important results of the reports are discussed. Conclusions are drawn as to the nature and structure of acceptable tolls systems. Depending on revenue requirements one of two feasible systems is recommended. A method is presented for implementing a new tolls system. A possible tolls system is discussed for use as the Canal becomes fully utilized. A system is discussed for use by two or more canals operating simultaneously.
