NEW TECHNIQUE USES POZZOLAN TO RAISE ROAD
A METHOD FOR RAISING THE PAVEMENT TO SOLVE AN UNUSUAL SETTLEMENT PROBLEM IS DESCRIBED. AFTER DRILLING HOLES IN THE PAVEMENT, A POCKET WAS WASHED OUT HORIZONTALLY UNDER THE SLAB WITH A SPECIAL TOOL TO CREATE A CAVITY INTO WHICH THE GROUT SLURRY WAS INJECTED. THE SLURRY CONSISTED OF ONE PART PORTLAND CEMENT AND THREE PARTS POZZOLAN, AN EXPANDING AGENT THAT OFFSETS SHRINKAGE OF THE MIX, AND A FLUIDIFYING AGENT. /BR/
