DEVELOPMENT OF CEMENT - SLURRY MIXTURES FOR USE IN CORRECTING PUMPING PAVEMENTS
CONCRETE PUMPING IS CORRECTED BY FILLING THE VOID UNDER THE PAVEMENT CAUSED BY PUMPING IN ORDER TO RESTORE THE FOUNDATION SUPPORT OF THE SLAB. FIELD TRIALS WITH A SIMULATED PAVEMENT SLAB HAVE ESTABLISHED THAT MIXTURES WHICH WILL COMPLETELY FILL A VOID SHOULD HAVE A CONSISTENCY OF NOT MORE THAN 24 SECONDS, AND THICKENING SHOULD TAKE PLACE IN 10 TO 20 MINUTES. CEMENT-SLURRY MIXTURES MADE WITH PORTLAND CEMENT AND CALCIUM ALUMINATE CEMENT HAVE DESIRABLE WORKABILITY CHARACTERISTICS. THEIR INITIAL ALMOST WATER-THIN CONSISTENCY IS MAINTAINED FOR A CONTROLLED LENGTH OF TIME, AFTER WHICH A FAST-THICKENING ACTION TAKES PLACE. THE SLURRY MIXTURES SET RAPIDLY SO THAT VERY LITTLE BLEEDING TAKES PLACE, AND THEIR ORIGINAL VOLUME IS MAINTAINED. /AUTHOR/
