Public Transport and Marketing in Small and Medium Sized Cities

Marketing can and should be part of public transport operation in small and medium sized cities. In this paper several marketing topics such as customer relation management, information management and branding will be elaborated and illustrated by examples in small and medium sized cities across Europe. The paper is based on the results of the European Union (EU) project PROCEED - High Quality Public Transport (HQPT) in small and medium sized cities where many best practices have been gathered and guidelines for successful local public transport operation were developed. Marketing was one of the topics.
