DATA DEVELOPMENT FOR IMPROVEMENT OF MAINTENANCE PERFORMANCE
EXAMPLES OF THE TYPES OF DATA NEEDED FOR ESTABLISHING AN EFFICIENT HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE SYSTEM ARE GIVEN. DATA ON WORK PERFORMANCE IN VIRGINIA ARE DEVELOPED THROUGH A REGULAR REPORTING SYSTEM. INDIVIDUAL REPORTS INCLUDE WORK DONE AND MATERIAL USED AND ARE CLASSIFIED BY ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT, COUNTY, ROUTE, SYSTEM, KIND OF ROAD AND ACTIVITY. REPORTS OF TOTAL WORK PERFORMED INCLUDE AMOUNT OF WORK, TIME, COST AND PRODUCTIVITY RATE. BY MEANS OF THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION, AN ATTAINABLE PRODUCTION RATE COULD BE DETERMINED.
