REINFORCED BITUMINOUS OVERLAYS IN NEW JERSEY
THE USE OF REINFORCEMENT IN BITUMINOUS OVERLAYS TO OVERCOME REFLECTION CRACKING HAS HAD SIGNIFICANT BUT NOT COMPLETE SUCCESS IN TESTS CONDUCTED BY THE NEW JERSEY STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. THE PROBLEM OF ELIMINATING REFLECTION CRACKING HAS PLAGUED HIGHWAY ENGINEERS FOR SOME TIME. IT IS THE CONCLUSION OF THE AUTHOR THAT CONTINUED EXPERIMENTATION WILL ULTIMATELY PROVIDE A SATISFACTORY SOLUTION.
