EXPERIMENTAL ROADWAY HEATING PROJECT ON A BRIDGE APPROACH /AND DISCUSSION/
ELECTRIC HEATING CABLES WERE INSTALLED WITH A BITUMINOUS CONCRETE RESURFACING ON THE 3 PERCENT GRADE OF A DRAWBRIDGE APPROACH TO AID IN SNOW REMOVAL AND ICE CONTROL. THE INSTALLATION OPERATION WAS DESIGNED TO PRODUCE MINIMUM DELAY SINCE THE DRAWBRIDGE APPROACH WAS PART OF A HEAVILY TRAVELED HIGHWAY. THE METHODS AND EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS FOR CONSTRUCTION ARE GIVEN. INSTALLATION AND OPERATING COSTS AND DESIGN DATA ARE PRESENTED.
