MTU locomotive drive systems for EU Emissions Stage IIIB
In order to comply with emissions limits for diesel locomotives within the European Union, as regulated by EU Non-road Directive 97/68/EC, MTU has developed suitable diesel engines for EU Emissions stage IIIB. These restrictions focus on the pollutants NOx, particulate, CO and HC, and aim to reduce rail emissions by a factor of 10 by the year 2020.
