PERFORMANCE OF GALVANIZED AND ALUMINUM COATED WIRE STRAND IN MARINE ATMOSPHERE
THE EFFECTS OF EXPOSING GALVANIZED AND ALUMINUM-COATED GUY-WIRE STRANDS TO A SEVERE MARINE ATMOSPHERE WERE STUDIED AT A SITE LOCATED ON THE WINDWARD SIDE OF OAHU, HAWAII. THE GALVANIZED STRANDS CORRODED QUICKLY. ALUMINUM-COATED WIRE WITHSTOOD THE ENVIRONMENT WHEN PROPER PRECAUTIONS WERE TAKEN TO AVOID OXYGEN STARVATION AND COUPLING WITH OTHER METALS. /AUTHOR/
