Measures for Pedestrians and Public Transport in City Intersections - International Experiences and Evaluation Studies
Tiltak for Fotgjengere og Kollektivtrafikk i Bykryss - Internasjonale Erfaringer og Effektstudier
Norwegian and foreign evaluation studies and experiences with nine pedestrian measures and seven public transport measures in city intersections and shared space have been collected and summarized. Pedestrian crossing improve mobility and subjective safety for pedestrians but have a negative effect on safety. If pedestrian crossings are combined with one or more of the other pedestrian measures, this negative effect will to a greater or lesser extend be eliminated. At the same time mobility and subjective safety will be improved. Measures already being used, should be used even more while measures that are not used should, be tested and evaluated in some pilots.
