EMISSION SPECTROSCOPY AS A TOOL IN NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING
CHEMICAL ANALYSIS IS NORMALLY THOUGHT OF AS BEING DESTRUCTIVE, BUT IT NEED NOT BE-ESPECIALLY SPECTROCHEMICAL ANALYSIS, WHICH CAN SATISFY THE CRITERIA FOR NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING. THIS PAPER CONTAINS A DESCRIPTION OF A METHOD FOR THE SPECTROGRAPHIC ANALYSIS OF MOST FERROUS AND NON-FERROUS ALLOYS. THE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL REQUIRED FOR ANALYSIS IS SO SMALL AND REMOVED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE SERVICEABILITY OF THE PIECE IS UNIMPAIRED. WHILE THIS METHOD IS SEMIQUANTITATIVE, IT IS SUFFICIENTLY ACCURATE TO CLASSIFY A WIDE RANGE OF ALLOYS. /AUTHOR/
