AN INTRODUCTION TO NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE SPECTROSCOPY AND ITS APPLICATIONS IN THE COATINGS INDUSTRY
NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE (NMR) SPECTROSCOPY IS RAPIDLY BECOMING THE SINGLE MOST VALUABLE TECHNIQUE FOR FUNDAMENTAL ANALYTICAL STUDIES OF ORGANIC SYSTEMS. FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE OF THIS TYPE IS NECESSARY FOR THE FUTURE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE COATINGS INDUSTRY. UNFORTUNATELY, HOWEVER, VERY LITTLE WORK HAS BEEN DONE IN NMR SPECTROSCOPY IN RELATION TO COATINGS CHEMISTRY. THIS PAPER WILL PRESENT A SIMPLIFIED APPROACH TO NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE THEORY, AND WILL ILLUSTRATE THE USE OF THIS TECHNIQUE IN COATINGS CHEMISTRY THROUGH THE USE OF SELECTED APPLICATIONS. /AUTHOR/
