THE NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING OF PASSENGER TIRES
EVER-INCREASING PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSENGER TIRES HAVE KINDLED A NEW INTEREST IN NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING IN THE TIRE INDUSTRY. FLUOROSCOPIC TEST METHODS HAVE BEEN WIDELY ACCEPTED FOR DEFECT DETECTION. INNOVATIONS IN EQUIPMENT AND METHODS FOR ULTRASONIC INSPECTION OF TIRES HAVE OPENED NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO MEASURE IMPORTANT TIRE CHARACTERISTICS. VARIATIONS IN TIRE TREAD THICKNESS HAVE BEEN MEASURED AND CORRELATED TO TIRE PERFORMANCE. /AUTHOR/
