FACTORS INFLUENCING THE ACCURATE MEASUREMENT OF DRYING RATES OF PROTECTIVE COATINGS
THE MODIFICATION OF AN EXISTING DRYING TIME RECORDER AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A DRYING TIME TEST PROCEDURE HAS FOR THE FIRST TIME ENABLED ACCURATE AND REPRODUCIBLE DRYING TIME STUDIES TO BE MADE. NOW DEFINITIVE STUDIES CAN BE MADE ON THE EFFECTS OF VARIABLES SUCH AS TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, AIR CIRCULATION, FILM THICKNESS, ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT, ETC., ON THE DRYING RATES OF PROTECTIVE COATINGS. NEW ASTM AND FTMS TEST PROCEDURES SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED UTILIZING THE MODIFIED DRYING TIME RECORDER AND TEST PROCEDURE. /JPT/
