CONTROL OF CORROSION AT MECHANICAL JOINTS
CONTROL IS DEFINED AS THE REDUCTION OF CORROSION RISKS TO AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL BY METHODS INCURRING AN ACCEPTABLE COST. CHOICE OF FASTENERS AND PROTECTIVE FINISHES FOR FASTENERS ARE CONSIDERED AND METHODS OF PREVENTING CORROSION AT JOINTS IN STEEL, ALUMINIUM AND NON-METALLIC STRUCTURES ARE DISCUSSED. IT IS EMPHASIZED THAT THE FASTENER MUST BE CONSIDERED IN RELATION TO THE OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE JOINT AND TO THE CONDITION OF SERVICE. /AUTHOR/
