EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTS OF WEATHERING ON PLASTICS
METHODS IN CURRENT USE FOR PREDICTING AND DETERMINING PERFORMANCE UNDER OUTDOOR EXPOSURE CONDITIONS ARE REVIEWED. TECHNIQUES THAT MEASURE CHANGES IN APPEARANCE, STRENGTH, AND FLEXIBILITY ARE EMPHASIZED. TECHNIQUES FOR DETECTING CHEMICAL CHANGES IN EXPOSED PLASTICS ARE DISCUSSED WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THEIR POTENTIAL APPLICATION TO ROUTINE TESTS THAT CAN BE USED AS A GUIDE TO ESTIMATE THE SERVICE LIFE OF VARIOUS COMMERCIAL MATERIALS.
