HEAT-SCARIFIER FOR PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE
SEVERE DISTRESS IN ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENTS CAN BE TREATED BY THE USE OF A HEATER-SCARIFER BEFORE OVERLAYING WITH A NEW SURFACE COURSE. THE APPLICATION AND ADVANTAGES OF THIS IMPROVED TECHNIQUE ARE DISCUSSED. THE TWO METHODS OF REPAVING CONSIDERED ARE USE OF THE HEATER-SCARIFIER WITH CONVENTIONAL OVERLAY, AND REPAVING WITH A SINGLE PASS INTEGRAL UNIT. REPRESENTATIVE COST DATA ARE PRESENTED.
