STATE BUILT LITTER PICKUP LIFTS PRODUCTION, CUTS MAN-HOURS
THE UNIT INCLUDES A HOSE AND 30 HP BLOWER UNIT AND A 4-CU-YD LITTER STORAGE BOX. THE BOX HAS A STEEL FRAME WITH PLYWOOD PANELING AND A SCREEN ACROSS THE 30-IN-WIDE MOUTH OF THE SUCTION UNIT IS MOUNTED ON FOUR CASTER WHEELS TO HELP KEEP IT CLOSE TO THE GROUND. A STEEL FRAME CONNECTED TO A HYDRAULIC PLOW UNDERFRAME UNDER THE PICKUP'S FRONT BUMPER LIFTS THE CLEANING HEAD OFF THE GROUND WHEN NOT IN USE. THE UNIT WHICH CAN PICK UP SMALL BOTTLES, CANS, ASSORTED DEBRIS AND RAGS AND REQUIRES 0.71 MAN HOURS PER MILE, HAS CUT COSTS OF ROADSIDE CLEANUP. MODIFICATIONS WHICH WILL EXTEND THE AREA THAT CAN BE CLEANED IN ONE SWEEP ARE PLANNED.
