PLANNING, CONTROL, AND ANALYSIS OF EXPERIMENTS

THIS SHORT REVIEW OF MODERN STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES IN THE FIELD OF EXPERIMENTATION COVERS SUCH ASPECTS AS DEFINITIONS, THE STAGES INVOLVED IN A STATISTICALLY DESIGNED EXPERIMENT, ANALYSIS VARIANCE, AND THE USE OF CALCULATORS AND COMPUTERS. NON-MATHEMATICAL DEFINITIONS ARE PRESENTED OF VARIABLES (INDEPENDENT AND DEPENDENT), LEVELS AND TREATMENT, AND EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN. THE CONCEPT OF EXPERIMENTAL ERROR IS DISCUSSED, AS IS ALSO, THE CONCEPT OF RANDOMIZATION, CONFOUNDING, INTERACTION, DODUL, AND TERMS RELATED TO TESTING. THE MEANING OF ANALYSIS VARIANCE IS ILLUSTRATED BY AN EXPERIMENT. OTHER TECHNIQUES OF STATISTICAL ANALYSIS SUCH AS DESCRIBPTIVE STATISTICS, ANALYSIS OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA, TESTS OF SIGNIFICANCE AND REGRESSION ANALYSIS ARE REVIEWED. CONCLUSIONS BASED ON THIS REPORT ARE PRESENTED.
