SUMMARY OF SESSION 2 PAPERS
THE PAPERS PRESENTED AT THE SESSION INCLUDED ONE THAT DESCRIBED THE MECHANISM OF TEST TRACKS BY THREE TYPES OF TRAFFIC SIMULATORS. OTHER PAPERS DESCRIBED SOME OF THE FACTORS WHICH INFLUENCE THE RESULTS OF LABORATORY WEAR TESTS, AND THE ACTION OF STUDS ON THE PAVEMENT. THE IMPORTANCE OF STUD DESIGN, MIX DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION CONTROL IS UNDERLINED. AN IDEAL TRAFFIC SIMULATOR WAS DEFINED AND THREE TYPES OF TESTING MACHINES ARE DESCRIBED IN ANOTHER PRESENTATION. CONCLUSIONS BASED ON THE INFORMATION PRESENTED AT THIS SESSION ARE DISCUSSED. THESE CONCLUSIONS RELATE TO THE SELECTION OF A TESTING SYSTEM, THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TEST, THE LIMITATIONS OF THE TESTING SYSTEM AND THE PRECISION OF THE TEST METHOD.
