FIELD TESTS
THE OBJECTIVE OF FIELD TESTS IS DISCUSSED AND FACTORS INFLUENCING FIELD TEST RESULTS ARE OUTLINED. FIELD TEST DESIGNS ARE DESCRIBED FOR TEST SECTIONS ON REGULAR ROADS AND CONSIDERATION IS GIVEN TO TRAFFIC FACTORS AND VEHICLE FACTORS. CLOSED TEST TRACKS AND THE ACCURACY OF WEAR MEASUREMENTS ARE OTHER ASPECTS COVERED. FACTORS OF SIGNIFICANCE ON MEASURED PAVEMENT WEAR AFFECT FIELD TEST DESIGN EITHER ADVARIABLES OR AS DISTURBING FACTORS WHICH MAY AFFECT THE TEST RESULT. ABSOLUTE VALUES OF WEAR MEASURED IN TESTS ON REGULAR ROADS MUST BE REGARDED ONLY AS ROUGH ESTIMATES.
