THE DETERMINATION OF SPECIFIC SURFACE OF GRANULAR MATERIALS BY HYDRAULIC MEANS
A METHOD WAS DEVELOPED TO DETERMINE THE SPECIFIC SURFACE OF MINERAL AGGREGATE WITH HIGH ACCURACY. THE METHOD APPLIED WAS A TECHNIQUE DEVELOPED FOR DETERMINING THE SPECIFIC SURFACE OF SANDS AND POWDERS. THE EXPERIMENTAL APPARATUS WAS CONSTRUCTED WITH SOME MODIFICATIONS BASED ON THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHER INVESTIGATORS. TESTS WERE CONDUCTED ON PARTICLES OF VARIOUS SIZES AND SHAPES OF WHICH THE ACTUAL SPECIFIC SURFACE COULD BE CALCULATED FROM THE GEOMETRY OF THE PARTICLES. THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS ARE PRESENTED IN GRAPHICAL FORM. THE RESULTS INDICATE THAT THE METHOD IS FEASIBLE FOR DETERMINING THE SPECIFIC SURFACE OF MINERAL AGGREGATES WITH CONSIDERABLE ACCURACY UNDER CERTAIN LIMITING CONDITIONS DISCUSSED IN THE THESIS.
