ELECTRODEPOSITION OF PAINT: ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH PARALLEL EFFORT
ELECTRODEPOSITION OF PAINT HAS GROWN DURING THE LAST 15 YEARS FROM A LABORATORY CURIOSITY TO A WORLDWIDE PRACTICED PAINT APPLICATION TECHNIQUE. THIS IS DUE TO THREE INHERENT ADVANTAGES: HIGHER CORROSION PROTECTION; LOWER COST; AND VIRTUAL ABSENCE OF POLLUTION. THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES HOW THE CONCEPT OF FILM-FORMING, ELECTRODEPOSITABLE MACRO-IONS ORIGINATED WITH AN AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURER IN THE DETROIT AREA, WHO SYNTHESIZED THE FIRST ELECTROCOATING PAINT, DEVELOPED THE EQUIPMENT, THE TESTING METHODS, AND DISCLOSED THE CONCEPT IN CONFIDENCE TO A NUMBER OF LEADING PAINT MANUFACTURERS. /DOT/
