MEASUREMENTS OF LAYER THICKNESSES AND WEAR ON ROAD PAVEMENTS BY MEANS OF AN ELECTRO-MAGNETIC METHOD

THE EQUIPMENT, WHICH IS A DEVELOPMENT OF AN INSTRUMENT WHICH HAS BEEN IN USE FOR SOME YEARS, ENABLES LAYERS UP TO 22 CM THICK TO BE MEASURED IN ONE OPERATION, BOTH THE CONTROL OF COMPACTION DURING LAYING AND THE MEASUREMENT OF WEAR OVER THE WHOLE CROSS SECTION OF THE ROAD BEING POSSIBLE. THE ACCURACY IS PLUS OR MINUS ONE PERCENT, AND RESULTS ARE IN CLOSE AGREEMENT WITH THICKNESS MEASUREMENTS OBTAINED BY OTHER METHODS. /TRRL/
