FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF STRESS CONCENTRATIONS IN A TRANSVERSE WEB FRAME
The objective of this thesis is to use finite element analysis in the analysis and design of a transverse web frame for a double bottom and double deck tanker, with a flexible membrane in the center tanks. The frame structure is subject to high stress concentrations due to the elimination of the brackets in the center tank. A comparison is made between an existing web frame design and the designed frame with regard to the feasibility of the structural design.
