CONCRETE FOR PUMPING
THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE FACTORS THAT DETERMINE THE PUMPING PROPERTIES REQUIRED OF A CONCRETE MIX. THE OBJECTIVE OF A MIX DESIGN SHOULD BE TO PRODUCE A CONCRETE MIX WITH A SEGREGATION PRESSURE GREATER THAN THE WORKING PRESSURE OF A PUMPING SYSTEM. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A DESIGNER SHOULD UNDERSTAND THE INFLUENCE OF THE MECHANICAL PUMPING REQUIREMENTS ON THE FUNCTION OF THE MATERIALS FORMING THE CONCRETE MIX. TEST APPARATUS DEVELOPED BY THE TAYLOR WOODROW RESEARCH LABORATORY IS MENTIONED; THIS APARATUS INDICATES THE BEHAVIOUR OF A MIX UNDER PRESSURE, THUS GIVING A GUIDE TO ITS SEGREGATION PRESSURE.
