THE CASE STUDIES IN THIS ARTICLE POINT OUT SOME PROVEN TECHNIQUES FOR BOOSTING A MAN'S PRODUCTIVITY. THESE INCLUDE: PROFIT SHARING; PUBLIC RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING WORKERS; ALL-EXPENSE-PAID VACATIONS FOR HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE CRAFTSMEN; SHORT-INTERVAL SCHEDULING, IN WHICH TIME AND QUALITY STANDARDS ARE SET AND THE WORKER'S PERFORMANCE MEASURED AGAINST THEM; POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT-I.E. PRAISE GOOD WORK BUT DON'T CRITICIZE WORK NOT QUITE UP TO GOALS; INVOLVING WORKERS IN JOB PLANNING; AND LETTING CRAFTSMEN PICK THEIR WORKING PARTNERS.
