STEEL FIBRE REINFORCED CONCRETE: THE EFFECT ON FIBRE ORIENTATION OF COMPACTION BY VIBRATION
IN THE STUDY OF STEEL FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETES AND MORTARS, IT HAS OFTEN BEEN ASSUMED THAT THE FIBERS ARE RANDOMLY DISTRIBUTED IN THREE DIMENSIONS IN THE TEST SPECIMENS. THE EFFECT OF THE MOLD SIDES AND A FREE SURFACE IS TO CAUSE THE FIBERS TO ORIENT THEMSELVES PARALLEL TO THE WALL OR SURFACE AND SECONDLY, THE EFFECTS OF VIBRATION ALONE MAY CAUSE ROTATION AND ALIGNMENT OF THE FIBERS PREFERENTIALLY IN A SPECIFIC DIRECTION. /DOT/
