ANALYSIS OF WORLD TANK SHIP FLEET

The world tank ship fleet showed a growth of 181 vessels and total deadweight tonnage of 23,808,000 dwt in 1971. The fleet growth pattern is tied to the shipping pattern of oil between the producing countries and the using countries. The present and past shipping patterns are examined and then projected against future world energy demands. This examination produces a case for the construction of more tankers and shows which national flag fleets can be expected to grow to meet the demand.
