ANALYSIS OF ACCIDENT EXPANSION FACTORS
AN EQUATION IS PROPOSED, WHOSE COMPONENTS ARE EXPRESSIONS OF EACH STATE'S TRAFFIC ACCIDENT REPORTING LAWS AND PRACTICES, TO COMPUTE TRUE FROM REPORTED ACCIDENT RATES AND THE PROPERTY DAMAGE COSTS ARISING FROM THESE ACCIDENTS. THREE COMPUTATIONAL METHODS EMPLOYING THE EQUATION ARE VERIFIED ON ACTUAL DATA, AND THE OPTIMUM METHOD IS INDICATED.
