BIOENGINEERING OF IMAPCT SURVIVAL IN BUSINESS AIRCRAFT
ANALYSIS OF AIRCRAFT ACCIDENTS AND EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH REVEALS THAT INJURIES TO HEAD AND CHEST ACCOUNT FOR MAJORITY OF FATALITIES WHEN ONLY LAP BELTS ARE USED. ADEQUATE UPPER TORSO RESTRAINT IS ESSENTIAL. ANCHORAGE STRENGTH AND BELT STRENGTH SHOULD BE SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASED. BELT ABRASION AND AGING CHARACTERISTICS MUST BE IMPROVED. RECOMMENDED IMPROVEMENTS IN SEATING DESIGN AND PLACEMENT, INSTRUMENT PANEL DESIGN, CABIN STRUCTURE, AND CONTROLS WERE ALSO DISCUSSED. /AUTHOR/
