133-3F- THE DEGREE OF INFLUENCE OF CERTAIN FACTORS PERTAINING TO THE VEHICLE AND THE PAVEMENT ON TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS UNDER WET CONDITIONS
IN COOPERATION WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, SOME 500 WET WEATHER ACCIDENTS WERE STUDIED AND DATA COLLECTED ON SEVERAL VEHICLE, PAVEMENT AND WEATHER VARIABLES. IT WAS FOUND THAT SMALL PAVEMENT TEXTURE, SMALL VEHICLE TREAD DEPTHS, LOW SURFACE FRICTION, HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND HIGH VEHICLE TIRE PRESSURES WERE DOMINANT IN THE ACCIDENTS STUDIED. /AUTHOR/
