MEASUREMENTS OF VIBRATIONS CAUSED BY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AND BLASTING
THE RESULTS OF TESTS TO DETERMINE THE VIBRATION LEVELS FROM CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT, TESTS TO MONITOR THE VIBRATION EFFECTS OF BLASTING, AND MEASUREMENTS OF VIBRATION DURING BRIDGE DEMOLITION BY THE WRECKING BALL ARE FULLY DOCUMENTED. THE EQUIPMENT USED DURING THE INVESTIGATION IS DISCUSSED IN DETAIL. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT THE DATA CAN BE USED TO PREDICT VIBRATION LEVELS RESULTING FROM A FAIRLY WIDE RANGE OF CIRCUMSTANCES, AND A PROCEDURE IS OUTLINED WHEREBY THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED. IN THE BLASTING MEASUREMENTS, THE VIBRATION LEVELS PRODUCED BY BLASTING AGREED WELL WITH THOSE PREDICTED. A NEW DESIGN OF SEISMOGRAPH IS ILLUSTRATED AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH IN VIBRATION MEASUREMENT ARE NOTED. /AUTHOR/
