A COMPLETE SALTING POLICY FOR THE SAME ROUTES WOULD COST THE DEPARTMENT AN ADDITIONAL $80,000 ANNUALLY. IT HAS A BENEFIT TO THE PUBLIC OF ABOUT 560 REDUCED ACCIDENTS WORTH AN ESTIMATED $820,000.
