CONTROL OF DISTORTION AND SHRINKAGE IN WELDING

BASIC BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PERTINENT DATA UPON WHICH AN ANALYTICAL SYSTEM CAN BE DEVELOPED FOR PREDICTING AND CONTROLLING WELD DISTORTION ARE PRESENTED. DISTORTION IN WELDED STRUCTURES IS CAUSED BY THREE FUNDAMENTAL DIMENSIONAL CHANGES. SHRINKAGE DISTORTION THAT OCCURS IN ACTUAL STRUCTURES CAN BE EXTREMELY COMPLEX.
